University of Ottawa Hyman Soloway Renewal
Project Description:
BGA worked with an institution to refurbish the interior of the student residence building. The main purpose was to provide a contemporary look to the building and transform it into an inviting, light-filled, and fun space for students to reside in. Bright exciting colours were used to liven up the entrance vestibule, corridors spaces and common areas while calm subtle colours were selected for the suite spaces, to provide a relaxing and homely vibe.
Design Details
The interior refurbishment includes the use of new floors, wall, and ceiling paint finishes. Each floor had a feature bright colour selected which was used in strategic locations in corridor spaces as well as on one wall per living area in the suites. The finishes of lighting fixtures and other electrical devices were chosen to compliment the wall colours. Linear wood-slat ceilings and wooden panelling in the entrance vestibule provides an enriched look to the space. Flexible furniture was selected to encourage user-led relocation of furniture for common study area.
